Lake Superior Watershed Ditch and Culvert Design Workshop
When: Wednesday, March 6, 2013- 9:00 AM-4: 30 PM and Thursday, March 7, 2013- 8:00 AM-12: 30 PM

This Workshop will provide training to public and private sector professionals on how to plan, install, and maintain road culverts and ditches that are safe, resilient, long-term solutions.
Workshop Description:
This workshop will focus upon on ditch and culvert design in the Lake Superior Watershed that will; minimize hydrologic impacts, system failure/subsequent erosion, and maximize cost effective installation, and maintenance.
Attendees will learn how to analyze, plan, construct, and maintain runoff management systems that reduce hydrologic impacts and erosion that degrade surface water in the Lake Superior Watershed.
The workshop will be 1.5 days long covering:
- Watershed and stream system physical and biological processes and functions.
- Runoff hydrology
- The impacts of ditches and culverts on hydrology and stream systems
- Case studies of failed ditches, culverts, and bridges
- Permitting
- Proper planning and design of ditches, culverts, and bridges to minimize on and off site impacts.
Who Should Attend
- Private Contractors, Foresters, Loggers, and Developers
- City, township, and county employees and officials
- MN and WI DNR – Hydrologists, Parks, Fisheries and Forestry
- NGO workers involved in planning and installing roads
- Federal personnel who plan and install roads
The workshop has been approved for 10.0 hours Category 1-CF, SAF CFE credit and has been entered into SAF’s online calendar
Registration fee before February 27th is $30.
Registration fee after February 27th is $60.
Register early, space is limited and filling up.
Registration includes lunch on day one and refreshments.
